What A Week It Was

Last Friday I left for New Hampshire to visit my daughter and see my granddaughter Kelsey's dance recital.

To say she was born to dance is an understatement.  Her technical steps are perfect, but what moves me to tears watching her is her ability to tell the story through her expressions. I over heard someone say, "She's soo dramatic". She is! It's what set her apart from the others.  Yes, I may be a bit bias, but seeing all of her trophies and medals in her room I think judges are with me on this one.

Movie night! Erin, Brian, Kelsey and Morgan. We watched "Zootopia"

On Sunday morning, my oldest granddaughter, Morgan and I went to Portsmouth to have breakfast and shop! The photo on the right here is Roger and my old Condo. The photo on the left is how close we were to downtown Portsmouth. Yes, we miss it!!

Morgan and my glass of sangria!

The trip home. I thought I was getting a great price on my trip, however, it included a three hour layover in Laguardia airport.  Ok, 4, counting the hour wait til all 23 planes took off before us.

Getting back to work. As I said it was a week.  Last Friday evening a crazed shooter killed an aspiring young singer then early Saturday morning, 2 am, a shooter entered into a night club in Orlando. I know you have all heard about it.
Sunday, in Orlando at a Disney hotel, a 2 year old boy was grabbed and killed by an alligator.

It's been a week of insanity. Trying to wrap my head around it all has been difficult.  The hotel has put up barriers and signs telling people that we do have alligators in ponds and lakes everywhere.  Too late.

The first time Roger and I went to the Caribbean, my first time out of the country, I was touched by the fact that the people there were just like us. The women had the same issues in their lives as I did. They worried about their children, they laughed, they cried.  I know, it sounds crazy to say it.  They all looked different and dressed differently, but we all shared the same emotions. Love, fear, laughter.... .And so the young men and women in the club early Saturday morning...they had the same emotions that I feel.  That we all feel. No difference. We are all part of the same Universe and each other. Just trying to wrap my head around the thought process of some people who just don't get it.

This is the Artist at 4 months with her favorite man! ;-) My Dad. I miss him every day. I was adopted at 6 weeks old and his love and support through the years has helped make me the person I am today.  Happy Father's day Dad.

To end my scattered thoughts for today I'll show you the flowers Roger brought home. Of course they will be in a painting!!!  Will there be a dog in the painting too?? Not sure. I have my eye fixated on that highlight in the glass. Hmm. So til then..have a great night.

Warmly,
Sheila

Tropical Storm Colin..Waiting

So today was the official start of Tropical Storm Colin. I canceled my chiropractor app't thinking it would hit at any moment. I guess you could say I was excited.  Roger napped for the afternoon. I had read somewhere that men tend to sleep as a big storm approaches, not because they are in avoidance, but due to the pressure of the atmosphere. So, what did I do??

Roger brought home flowers the other day!! So nice to have living stuff in CiCIBlue!  Now what to do!!!!

Sammy doing what Sammy does best...snoozing!

And so it starts!! Don't move Sam!!!

The finished 8" x 10" oil on canvas.

There...I've done it!! Now we are waiting for the tail end of Colin to pass.  Sammy has moved on to get scratches from Roger at his computer and Ozzie has taken up the position on the couch!!

Where's Lola?? Today is day 1 of Prednisone every other day. She just had breakfast and is happily laying down on the cold tile by the bathroom.  She had a really bad skin allergy from the pollen. This morning I could see the yellow demon on her bottom jowl. The wind from Colin has stirred the pollen up quite well. Grrrr.

This picture I took from our bathroom window after just 2 minutes of the squall. Crazy. It came and went all night, thunder, wind whistling, and this morning we just have a few more bands coming around. Some of our winter storms this year were worse.

So what's the plan for today. I know our RV guys aren't coming so I'll be painting.

Our Granddaughter Kelsey's gymnastic teachers Heart dog went to the Bridge recently so I'm painting him for Kel's to give it to her for a gift.

So, That's it for now...if anything exciting happens during the day I'll be back tonight!!! ;-)

Have a great day..
Warmly,
Sheila

The Start Of Our Hurricane Season

June 1st signals the start of hurricane season in Florida.  We sort of have PTSD syndrome from our 2004 season when they came two weeks apart so when we hear something is brewing off the coast or in the Gulf, we prepare.  Over the past, 10, 11 years, we have been lucky and have become somewhat complacent but right now there's a depression, soon to turn into a Tropical storm, with Florida in it's site.

We clean up pretty good don't you think? Our neighbors thought we were getting ready to roll. In actuality we are in good position too, but it would have to be a huge storm for us to go. Plus, we are still waiting for our RV repair guy to come.  I'll let you know tomorrow how the storm goes.

The heat index the past few days has been over 100.  Lola and I go out for our constitutional and after she goes, she is ready to head home to the a/c.  The roads are really hot so she runs across to the grass and will actually take the short cut to the coach. Once we get closer, it's a strong walk to the door where she just about puts her head through the door.  I bet she would be the first one to raise their paw if the question was, "Who wants to go to Labrador/Newfoundland?"

Painting? I've started to get ready for the past few days and something always seems to come up. Oh-oh Sheila, was that an excuse?? No not really. The draws in the kitchen were just really getting to me along with five tons of dog hair on the floor so I made the choice to sweep and wipe out the draws.  5 hours later, the day was gone but boy CiCi Blue looked and smelled really fresh. Plus this coming Friday I am flying up to NH to visit my daughter and her family and see our youngest granddaughter's recital! Roger will have a nice area to be with the kids and do his work.

Erin, Morgan, Kelsey and Brian.

Kelsey

Just saw on the news the wealthiest women on Forbes list.  Beyonce, Taylor Swift, just to name a few. They all said they were "following their passion and doing what they love."  Isn't that what I'm doing??  My net worth hasn't even imagined 340 million dollars.  Actually, I'm not even sure it I HAVE a net worth.  Oh well, I'm happy and I'm saving the world by NOT singing!!!

Think I'll set up my easel now and paint...:-)

See you tomorrow.

Warmly,
Sheila

Now It's A Waiting Game

I now place a weekly call to our RV repair group. Now it's a waiting game. This weeks call I'm sure is giving the receptionist pangs of guilt, but we did find out they are lacking workers.  I think Florida is in Caribbean time, which means, "when we get to it mon". I'm not referring to the RV company but to workers in the South. We have heard many times over that the work ethic is much different than that in the Northern states. If it's the temperature difference I can well understand.

So, here we sit. Since I believe there are no coincidences in life and seeing the accidents and awful storms around the country, maybe it's not such a bad thing to wait!

This is an older photo but the general felling of "when do we go".

So, some decisions were made since we last chatted. Since it's getting so late we told the owners of the park we would stay again this year while they went home on vacation. Pretty sure the first two weeks of July. Yes, once again we will run amok through the park!!! (Not really..but it's fun to say) Then when we return in the Fall, we will continue to work and I'll manage my painting time.  I can do this!!

Another oldie but goodie. I have been thinking that I will do a few painting videos from my incredibly "large" area here.  It will serve two purposes, one you get to see me working and two, you will understand what I mean when I say "no excuses". If you have the desire there is no reason why you just can't do it!

And finally today, moi!! I'm tellin' you ladies, back lighting is the way to go to take away wrinkles and years off your face. ;-) And yes, the hair is actually cut asymmetrical.

So off to the dog park with the kids. Just got a notice that a storm was 10 miles away.

Have a great night and chat tomorrow!
Warmly,
Sheila
