The Owners Have Returned

So the owners have returned and my stint at minding the office is over. Back to my regular life. The RV repair update. Left yet another message. Hopefully this week will bring them to us and our tow dolly arrives. I believe in miracles!!

Mooo. An 8" x 8" watercolor of a calf. A friend/client sent me a photo and asked for first dibs on the finished piece and happy to say she loved it. Off to it's new home come Monday!

This is my Lola. Watercolor and gouache and a bit of white gel pen on 300lb paper. I have been participating in #worldwatercolormonth on facebook painting a watercolor a day.  I get this look from her everymorning, well, every second of the day! She's such a love.  All my watercolors of this size, square format, are $75.00.

I was tired today, probably a bit of a letdown that I didn't have to be anywhere this morning or watch for anyone to come in or leave.  I decided to play with watercolor and ink.  I haven't listed this on on Daily Paintworks as yet.  If you are interested you can contact me here

So how do you end your day? The heat here has been high 90's with the heat index of 107 to 110 some days. It may not be too crazy in a stick and brick house but this summer in our RV, even with our insulation and great a/c, it's been hot. Afternoons I hop onto the bed to rest, read mail, play games on my phone, maybe even snooze.  All three dogs want to join me. This is Ozzie looking a little perturbed that I said his name and he had to look up. Sorry Bud!!

So that's it for today.

Kick back and relax. Cheers!!!

Warmly,
Sheila

Watching The RV Park Day 6

Roger and I are watching the RV Park while the owners are on vacation for two weeks. We did this last year so it's familiar to us. How hard can it be? I think I mentioned last year that everyone who stay here needs to spend a day in the office to see what Wendy does, then a day outside to see what Penny does.  Today is Sunday and it wasn't a day off.  I don't think there are days off in the RV Park business. If you don't get that phone call or chat with that person you may loose business.

Again, my view from the office. All and all it hasn't been that busy but I've gone from, all the time in the world to "Lord, when can I get time to pee" , or eat.   In the past 6 days I've had a man come in full time, a couple come in for a week and another family in transit move in for a month or more. Another couple wondering if they could find a place here after the Fall season.

It's been 96 degrees or more every day with the heat index about 115 so I'd zoom around in the golf cart looking for a free spot with a bit of shade for the new comers.  Then the questions of park rules, wifi, trash and such along with just friendly chatter.  Then in the back of my head, "Is there enough toilet paper in the bathrooms?"

Our afternoon storms have started back up again and they have been like little surprises.

The table was once inside the screen house.

Just two pictures of the damage from wind in yesterdays surprise storm. Another camper had his awning ripped part way. Thankfully we pulled ours in just in time.  Today, we are ready once more.

In between making sure bathrooms are clean, phones answered, people settled I actually paint. I haven't been able to do my oil commissions but I have taken my watercolors to the office.  A little quiet "studio" away from home.  I also have company!

This is Gus.  Last year Gus was a kitten and easy to get him to come to me but this year, "Who are you???".
With the heat the plan is to get him to come into the office during the day so he'll cool off. For the first three days Gus was a no show. I'd put his food out on the step and it was gone the next morning so I knew he was eating. I walked around the yard a bit calling him but now answer. Friday I heard a meow but no sign of Gus. Yesterday I heard the meow and it was right outside the office door. He ran when I opened it but walked back enough so I could grab him and bring him in. We bonded. I had him in my lap for about an hour petting and chatting and today he's a regular and talks non stop.

So it's now Sunday night and I'm home, feet up, a tall boat drink in hand and back to being a park renter. I have the owners on speed dial if we need them but all is well.

Looks like THEY had my boat drink!!

5:04 P.M. and Lola's dinner bell just sounded.  No sitting around right now. One thing though, I've had my days so full I sleep better than I have in months. (no Wendy you can't stay longer for my health and sleep...LOL )

Off to feed the kids!! Have a great night.
Warmly,
Sheila

Wow Time Flies

Holy cow, July 6!! I hope I was busy, I'm sure I was.

Funny about full timing RVing, time changes.  It's not dementia, old age or any other nasty thing, it's just that time rolls on and you don't notice. What day is it? What date? And who cares!? Unless of course you have an appointment to get to or a plane to catch. Thankfully we have devices to remind us. (apologies again to my friend Lou for forgetting that our lunch date was at 11 am and not noon.)

So I've been painting up a storm finishing commission work then adding on to it a monthly Watercolor challenge of 31 days. I'm having a blast!!!

TAKE A PEEK   That will take you to my page on Daily Paint Works.  I was on this site a few years ago and recently decided to join again. My creative energy has been renewed so who knows what might happen!

This is my latest In Progress piece.  A photo of Ozzie back when he was a pup. I may have mentioned Sammy, our black Lab, didn't care for Oz at first.  Ozzie was someone who had the potential of taking away Sammy's food, toys and personal lovings.  Well this day Ozzie climbed up onto the chaise where Sam was sunning himself and climbed right on top. I held my breath. Ozzie nibbled and bit and Sammy went into "mummy" mode and started teaching Ozzie what not to do. It was amazing to watch.

So, RV news. Still waiting! I did hear from our tow dolly man and he's coming about the third week of July with our tow dolly. Meanwhile, the park owners wanted to go home on vacation for two weeks and since we are still here, we are looking after things. I'm in the office during the day and Roger does the pool as usual.

I do get to sit in air conditioning and do my painting so it's not bad at all. I had one gentleman come in and wanted to find a full time place for his trailer, dog and his self.  He moved in a few minutes ago. A good day.
The afternoon had the thunder and lightning and downpour. We wish it would cool things off but it really doesn't. Not this week.

Well almost time to bring the kids to the dog park. Their little alarms on their paws go off and we MUST go at that time.

Chat again hopefully tomorrow... before another month goes by.

Warmly,
Sheila
